Audience Feedback

One of the specific things I was amazed with was that there were no shadows in the space itself.

——Mr. Asaya Fujita, president of ASSITEJ Japan and Vice President of ASSITEJ International

I was gradually relaxing trough both my baby’s experience and my own, and eventually found myself laying, with a strong feeling ‘like being deep in the ocean’, feeling ultimate safety.

——audience from the Japanese Mothers Association

About BABY SPACE

Co-created by Swedish and Chinese Artists?Choreographer, Concept and Space Design: DalijaAcinThelander Produced by the A.S.K.?Composer XIAO Ying

Baby Space is a specific installation with elements of performance and choreography for babies from three months to eighteen months and their parents. It offers participants a unique sensory experience through tactile, auditory and visual sensation, aiming at creating a natural environment where children and adults can feel safe and free.

The production concentrates on delivering multidisciplinary experience to a very young audience. It combines visual arts, dance, music and theatre. All the elements are carefully brought together to introduce the setting for exceptional artistic and social experience – stimulating the perception of the youngest encouraging interaction, sparking their curiosity and triggering exploration.

The installation space is visually isolated from its surroundings by a structure made out of a soft, elastic white fabric, marshmallow-like objects of a various size and shape scattering around inside for playing and enjoying.?It secures the conditions for the cherished moments of relaxation and gives memorable time to all.

Following the impressive and unique co-creation with the artists in Poland, Denmark and Serbia for custom-tailored spaces which have toured extensively around the world to rave review, the Chinese version of Baby Space will pamper and inspire one of the most populate very young in the world as the first one of its kind in China.

It features the original music by Xiao Ying, graduated from Conservatoire a Rayonnenent Regional de Paris. In 2013 his large-scale symphony The Cloud on the Wishful Side won the first prize of Young Composers Program organized by the National Centre for the Performing Arts, and was interpreted by BBC National Orchestra of Wales in 2014. With the concept and direction of Dalija, the choreography is inspired by the Chinese talented dancers/choreographers with motherhood and physic-psychotherapy background.
